18 Going On 30

They said that you could only plan, God’s plan is more complete. I already have 3
brothers, why would I need one more? It was too much of a coincidence that he lied about his age and the fact that I continued chatting with him, even after knowing that he was only 18.
A few unusual things started to happen since we got in touch, as if it was part of a bigger plan. Fate had it that our paths would cross, that we’d take each other on a whole set of different adventures, in surprising ways too.
As I sat near the Bugis MRT station waiting for an innocent kid, I totally wasn’t prepared for the dashing young man who was walking towards me. It was like expecting to go out with the class nerd but ending up with the prom king instead. My, my, what a charming lad, he was so confident, we started bonding immediately.
An Enchanting Rendezvous
We headed to the Bugis Junction. Suddenly finding ourselves at Intercontinental, we decided to have breakfast at the lounge. The Eggs Benedict was excellent, that was the first time he had smoked salmon and he loved it. I sipped my latte while he had carrot juice.
He was so matured, so eloquent, I felt like I was with a guy my age, instead of 16 years younger:D. The difference was that he was very open, straightforward, no playing guessing game. I actually didn’t have to talk down to him at all, didn’t have to simplify my thoughts or rephrase. Though I’ve never gone out with a guy who
genuinely wanted to know so much about me in such a short period of time, how flattering;) and without iritating me too:)That was what I’d call a date;)
We went for a quick shopping afterwards. Bought him a cool green striped t-shirt for his birthday. Watched Da Vinci Code later, seemed like he understood the movie more in-depth than I did, hehe…Suddenly I had this flashback of a scene from Ally McBeal when 33 year-old Ally told this 18 year-old guy that he may be TOO OLD for her. LOL.
He has just started an extensive series of floorball training sessions and was suffering from muscle cramps:) Quite an innovative kid too with creative studying methods, managed to tutor a few secondary school students for pocket money, not bad. And also a poet, in fact that was what captured my attention in the first place. His friends made him recite his ‘Friendship’ poem during their graduation ceremony, so sweet.
Precious Memories
He had his share of tough times, especially when he made an attemp to quit smoking. He started at the age of 12, struggled from the age of 14 to 16 to be done with it altogether.
When I sent him off at Bugis MRT station later in the evening, I had a rush feeling of despair, one I normally had when I parted with someone knowing that I might never see he/she again. Only that this time it was so overwhelmingly strong, so much so that I really didn’t want to let him go.
He was unbelievably wonderful, definitely worth my trip down here. Wish I could bring him back to KL;) Kidding, Dik! Hehe…
Boy, was I glad I didn’t have a boyfriend like that when I was 18! That would have set the benchmark so high that no guy would be able to meet for the next 10 or 15 years.
That’s the biggest compliment I could give you, Zaki:) I’m sure you’ll make an amazing doctor one day.
And I won’t talk to you like a kid anymore:)
Hmm…I wonder what ‘the man of dreams’ has been dreaming of lately;)
