During a session of my creative writing course, we argued whether readers prefer short stories to novels or vice versa.
I’ve just seen an unexpected development in the blog-hoppers’ response to my blog recently.
From 11 Sept’06 onwards, ever since I’ve started blogging about 1 man only - instead of several members of the male species - my number of daily hits has gone up significantly. Note the huge difference between ‘average per day’ and ‘today’.
I do understand that my blog is an ‘acquired taste’, not
something that the mass blog-hoppers would enjoy easily. My entries also revolve very much on my personal life, not a topic or issue that most people would be able to relate to. So, imagine my surprise when I discovered that I do have a loyal following, apart from my closest friends, that is. LOL!
Maybe the women just want to read about Ad;) Or maybe, it shows that blog-hoppers prefer novels to short stories. More would rather follow 1 story to the end instead of crunching a punchy short story here and there, now and then.
I realised that I totally stopped writing about other guys after Ad’s first long distance phone call - yeah, the USD770 one from Libya:) I hope I would be able to write about him for a long, long time still. He makes an exciting and addictive subject:)
Guys from my past visited my blog mainly to read what I wrote about them (or if I wrote about them). The great thing about Ad was that he was more interested in the stories NOT related to him. And he was the only one who wouldn’t let me post his photo. Yeah:D.
Another thing, about comments - I know how hard it was to comment on my blog. The boo-boo was that you have to register as a Friendster member first. Then sometimes the comment box doesn’t come out. Nevertheless, each comment took several number of trials, so I valued each one:)
Alternatively, you can always drop me an email at haziabakar@yahoo.co.uk like some people do. I can post the comments for you.
Drop by again:D
P/s: Just got 10 comments at once from my Adik, Zaki. He was the only person who didn’t face any problem in commenting on my blog, an IT generation advantage maybe, hehe…
