Darfur 2: Friday Fury
March 30, 2007 by haziamyperspective
I was about to ask Ad whether the Malay guys would be taking him to the mosque again today for Friday prayers.
Unfortunately, he said the Sudanese Government has asked them to remain on stand-by. They may have to leave for Cairo tomorrow if the situation with the Darfur rebels got worse.
I asked him not to leave the hotel, it was too dangerous. He was all alone there and he should not take unneccesary risk. He agreed.
He didn’t go to the office this morning and was using the PC at the hotel’s Business Centre. It was packed with foreigners. They didn’t have wi-fi access there so people were queing up for the PCs. He was getting uncomfortable, perhaps feeling quilty too for manipulating the resources for chatting when so many others were in need.
Therefore, he decided to call his driver to come get him and send him to the office. He said we could continue chatting there. I think he was also eager to get more work done.
I reminded him not to take risk, I would be worried sick. He assured me that he would assess the situation first before going out of the hotel.
I was so relieved when he buzzed me from his office 2 hours later:)

oh boy… I hope Ad is safe there..
tak sangka pulak situation tegang dekat Sudan…
Yeah, I asked Ad to take the next flight to Cairo (tonight), regardless of the Government’s announcement. He was just worried that they may close the airport altogether:(
