Tropical Attack 8: Message from a Stranger
April 27, 2007 by haziamyperspective
Since I’d be flying off tomorrow morning, there was one more thing that I wanted to do.
I called Al, he was in Singapore. I wanted to ask him to do me a favour of relaying my message to Ad. That is should there be an opportunity for him to do so through any of Ad’s family members in Houston. His mother could then gently tell him as she sat by his bed and hold his hand.
Of course, I had to come clean, I told him that I hadn’t been completely honest about my relationship with Ad. I then gave him a summarise version which brought me to my point.
Who knows what is going on in Ad’s mind right now. For what it’s worth, I may be important to him. If I were, then it may make a difference if he heard from me. Either way, we have nothing to lose. At least we knew we were doing everything we could.
I left it to his discretion on how to manage it. Yes, it was delicate to convey a message from a stranger through a third party. Furthermore, I’ve not met any of his family members or friends. His mother only knew me as the girl with the mole who chatted with her eldest son until late at night. It then hit Al that I’ve not even met Ad himself.
He would see what he could do. He concurred with me on being extremely careful and not ‘throwing Ad’s family off’. It all depends on their condition and how they sound like when they next talk to him. He said the family has always been very low profile, they do things quietly.
Actually, Al was a bit puzzled as to why none of Ad’s friends has called yet. It was probably because they didn’t even know what happen to him. His wife asked him to call each of them and tell them. However, he said they should be calling him instead.
If it ever come to that stage, I gave Al the liberty to release my mobile phone number to Ad’s family members, but not my office phone number though.
Al was positive that Ad would recover, the question mark is to what extent.
