The Slip

Feeling refreshed from our short swim last night, my friend and I adjourned for dinner at a famous nasi lemak stall nearby. We had a lot to catch up on, enough for 2 rounds of teh tarik, hehe…
She asked me an interesting question - ‘When you embark on a potential relationship, do you set your ‘niat’ (intention) first?’ It turned out that her definition of ‘nawaitu’ also covered ‘tawakkal’. Now, that was a good advice.
She also pressed on something after that. Several people have made this remark to me over the last few weeks. During that 7-month fiasco with Ad, I could have explored potential relationship with other guys, real ones! However, I’ve always said that I had no regret, there wasn’t anybody worth thinking about.
Maybe it was God knocking some sense into me. Suddenly it occured to me that actually, there was someone. How could I forget? This 1-year younger Malay guy entered my life in November’06. He was a sub-editor with a local newspaper. He made a good first impression when we briefly met. He even asked me out on a second date for like at least 10 times, I think.
Why didn’t I go out with him again? I must have been really ‘off’ then. Well, he worked odd hours and had the tendency to ask me out late at night, normally after 10pm. Being the spontaneous type, he didn’t give me much notice either. Not to mention, I was very ‘distracted’ by you-know-who.
I re-read my blog entry on that day. Guess what? The day after our date, Ad surprised me with his first long phone call from Libya. He knew about this guy, was that an intentional move? Hmm…
It’s been 6 months! Lucky me, we caught each other online last week and I found out that he had been transferred to another newspaper. So, he now work 11am to 7pm, quite alright then.
So, with my friend’s encouragement, I called him when I got home last night. He didn’t answer but he called me this morning on his way to work. It seemed that he fell asleep early as he wasn’t feeling well. After that, I found a long trail of chat messages from him on YM:)
Yeah, our teh tarik will be soon. It wouldn’t be too late at night though.
Naturally, he was wondering why I called him out of the blue - what triggered my action? He thought it was because I had just bumped into his colleagues. In my profession, I deal regularly with many of them. LOL!
Oh, one more thing, I need to do a background check on him, yeah, before I put my heart on the tray again.
Now is the time to set my ‘nawaitu’:)

Good Luck !!
Don’t forget to check him out… But one thing you and I know, this guy is real… walking onland with two feet.. not the cyberguy floating somewhere …. hehehe .
Haha! You’re right, thanks!
Stage 1 check done! Now moving on to stage 2;)
