Cupid’s Playground

I had dinner with a friend at Alexis on Saturday night. We shared every course, a selection of 2 marvellous appetisers, a light main dish and a sinful dessert. The food was excellent, especially the crispy duck and the chocolate banana mascarpone:D.
Interestingly, we were both sort of starting anew in our love life. She was slowly phasing out her foreign so-called boyfriend from her list. He was taking her for granted. For example, since he didn’t drive (no international driving license), she had to fetch him from wherever. She didn’t mind doing it occassionally but not everytime.
He was also not very friendly with her friends. On the 2 occasions that I met him, he was aloof. Probably because he is a Mat Salleh. She later realised it herself. I mean he even left early during her birthday dinner. Also, he refused to be referred to as ‘her boyfriend’, only ‘her friend’ would do.
Coincidentally, when I was on a date with the Newspaper Man recently, she bumped into us. I didn’t have a chance to tell her who he was. However, from the way I was dressed and all, she could tell. When I introduced them and chatted away, she caught my ‘invisible signal.’ She knew that she was supposed to take a good look at him so she could recognise him later. And she did. LOL!
She said he did seem like a nice guy. Typical journalist look
though, hehe…
Yeah, like she said, we all deserved better. It was time to move on and let go. No point harping on some almost non-existant fool.
Anyway, an old friend from boarding school told me last night that he could check this guy out for me. A few of our old friends worked with the authority, it was do-able. He didn’t want to see me get hurt again. At the very least, we should verify his ID and marital status.
