A Little Adventure

We had family lunch at Bangsar Village yesterday. My mother asked me to buy a story book for my nephew. He is 3.5 years old and it seems like he likes books as much as I do. So, I told him that I’d take him to the bookstore upstairs to get him a book.
1st Try:
We walked out of the restaurant. On the way to the escalator, he stopped at the rare house deco items booth and nearly toppled a big vase. He then ran off in the other direction and went into the DVD/VCD shop. I hurried after him. I was looking for my phone in my handbag when I realised he was no longer in the shop.
I called his name a few times and stepped out. Knowing that I couldn’t keep up with him, he actually waited for me outside. LOL!
I took his hand and guided him to the escalator. Thank God I was holding both of his hands because he refused to step on it. He ended up standing on 1 leg. Was he scared? As far I knew, he wasn’t scared of anything.
He ran off back to the restaurant. My mother wondered what happen. She said I should insert the ‘good boy’ phrase when I want him to do something.
2nd Try:
His father (my younger brother) whispered something to him. So, he obligingly followed me and let me take his hand. This time around, I guided him straight to the lift. We got on it and got down on the first floor. The bookstore was 2 shops away. This is better, I thought.
No! He ran off again. I grabbed both of his arms and use the magic phrase. He slowed down and walked with me.
We got into the bookstore. I wanted to show him a few books and asked him to choose one. He was so engrossed in my first selection, Aladdin, that he immediately sat down on the carpet and started reading (or pretend reading).
I took out a hardcover Nemo. He said he wanted that, and he wanted Aladdin too. Oops. Luckily, I didn’t go and lay a whole stack in front of him to choose. His father came and asked him to decide on one. He said he already asked me for both and I was ok with it. LOL!
He took both books to the counter and threw them at the cash machine. I gave him an RM50 note to pay and he threw the money at the machine too. The cashier laughed.
Hence, the end of the adventure of buying story books with my nephew, hehe… I always believe that he’ll go far in life because he doesn’t do things by the book. LOL!
