Mix and Match

This piece is inspired by my Adik and my trips to Singapore. I had to throw in some fictatious facts to turn it into a story, a bit of mix and match, I’d say:)
The Replacement - 1st Cut
“I still can’t believe that he would ignore my plea… he just left me stranded there,” Mia wailed.
“Yeah, me too,” I could not have agreed more with my sister.
“Too bad you weren’t in town.”
“Yes, wish I had been there.”
“Hmm… I waited 45 minutes for the mechanics to arrive. It was already 10.30pm. My car broke down at an isolated spot on the highway. A lot of things could have happened to me!”
“The thought of that is scary. Hmm… Looks like someone is becoming more and more selfish,” I hinted, deliberately pouring more gasoline onto the fire.
Mia rubbed her forehead. “You know, Liz. I’ve been trying to ignore this fact for a long time already. Yesterday’s encounter sort of opened my eyes. ”
I nodded sympathetically. Well, it is about time, I said to myself.
“If I were in his position, I would have dropped everything and rushed there.”
“I bet you would.”
She sighed. "What happened to him, Liz?"
"I don’t know, Mia." I knew that our parents had been wondering about this for years. Only Mia seemed to be in denial.
"If I could have one wish, you know what it would be?"
"Yeah, that Sean turns back into his old self."
"No. I’d wish for a different brother."
"What!"
She was quiet for a while. When she finally spoke, there was a dangerous tone in her voice. Her face was void of emotions. “As of today, we shall live separate lives. He’s only my brother legally and biologically, no more than that.”
“Oh!” I was startled.
As much as I welcomed the change, her suddenness and certainty got me worried. It was like she had squeezed out all her feelings for him, good and bad, into a giant rock and thrown it off all the way to the moon.
Mia and Sean had been close since as long as I could remember. Being the eldest child, she was always protective of our youngest brother.
