Hazia’s Reflections

At 6.00pm yesterday, I went to the bookstore to collect the proof for my first mini-book. It is consists of 3 collections of short stories by 3 budding writers. It was already bound into a little book, the cover was designed by one of the writers. I felt an amazing sense of satisfaction upon seeing it. All our hard work, at last.

After that, I walked to the Kebaya man’s boutique nearby. He was treating me and 7 other people for buka puasa. So, he had the honour of being the first to view the book, hehe… He kept on asking me if I had always wanted to be a writer:)

While I like the idea and concept of the cover, there were some minor changes that I would like to make to the objects arrangement. However, I decided to ignore it and not look at it from a hotelier’s eye. Hoteliers have a tendency to analyse photos to death, LOL! I think the cover will appeal to the average Malaysian readers. While we chose a faded, old colour scheme, it was warm and catchy. People won’t miss it when they walk pass the display rack:)

Our course instructor cum publisher did a really good introduction. Apart from announcing the inaugural initiative, he also mentioned our upcoming ‘solo’ efforts. That shows his commitment to publish a book for each of us next.

We had to proof read each page for typos. Since my parents are in town, my mother has taken the liberty to proofread (or rather grammar checked) a few of my stories last night. LOL!

By this morning, I myself had finished proofreading all my 10 stories and moved on to the other 2 writers’ work. And my mother is still reading my stories. She said she likes ‘The 50 Sen Queens most:)
