Historical Sci-Fi

I’ve always wanted to write a short story about 2 things - the systematic students brainwashing conducted at my boarding school & the recent political tsunami. Last weekend, an idea came to me combining the 2. It fluffed out in the form of a historical sc-fi, yeah, what a potpourri. The ‘Moyang’ or ‘great-grandmother’ character is derived from my late grandmother, further boosted by one of a young political figure. LOL!

As I stood in the glass cubicle in my father’s laboratory, I dared him to bring me to her immediately. She was just a senile old woman, my grandfather’s 140 year old mother who lived alone in her own apartment far, far away. All I needed to do was fire her a series of question and record her answers. That is if she could even snap her mind and her senses into the present long enough to talk to me, I chuckled.
"Hang on!” My father shouted. A white beam enveloped me and everything went blank. The vapour started to clear and I found myself in a different space. Colours flew around from left to right, and a gush of strong wind came and went. When the chaos finally cleared, I saw her. Surprisingly, she was all dressed up in an embroidered dark blue batik baju kurung and white tudung. She looked just like her photos in my e-history text books. Beige floral wallpapers, potted plants and Egyptian carpet that she chose painted quite a picture. In fact, the living room’s whole interior and decoration resembled something from the museum, even more ancient than the ones in the old movies that my grandparents loved to watch.
Upon noticing me, she sat up straight in her brown plush sofa…
